Relatos de plomo. Historia del terrorismo en Navarra. La sociedad contra ETA (Tales of Lead. A History of Terrorism in Navarra. Society Against ETA) is the title of Volume III of Relatos de plomo, a project by the Government of Navarra. The first two, released in 2013 and 2014, discuss the impact of ETA and its violence campaign on thousands of people in Navarra, taking the reader on a journey through the powerful and sustained terrorist violence in this Community. The books include stories told by relatives of victims claimed by ETA over the decades. There were, however, a number of relevant issues that had not been
covered in the first two books. Volume III deals with five of these key topics: the money extorted from businessmen and professionals to fund the group’s activities; the urban guerrilla movement (the so-called kale borroka or street fighting) begun by ETA supporters in the 1990s to expand and complement the group’s terror campaign with new methods consisting mainly of acts of vandalism; the use of threats and coercion by the terrorist organisation and its supporters to try to drag political leaders out of their democratic commitment; the fight against terrorism launched by law enforcement forces; and the strong
opposition and resistance from different actors in the civil society and the majority of citizens met by ETA’s threats and crimes as seen in protests, marches and demonstrations. The names of businessmen, civil guards, policemen and anonymous citizens complete the story of the heroic deeds by those who opposed and rejected terror.
